| LIFE DRAWING - NEW PROGRAMME Life Drawing returns to Bury St Edmunds Art Gallery with a new tutor and a fresh approach. The Gallery is delighted to welcome Cambridge-based artist CJ Mahony who will lead the sessions and encourage a dynamic response to the human form in the finely lit and spacious interior of the historic Market Cross building. CJ brings with her the experience of delivering Life Drawing sessions to people with a range of abilities and her unique, open style of teaching is sure to engage you and inspire confidence. CJ has a studio at Wysing Arts Centre in Cambridge and works in sculpture and installation, often working site-specifically. The human figure plays an important role in the making of her work; how people negotiate and react to the spaces that are transformed by her work is a fundamental part of her practice. In Dark Room, created for the Enter Arts Festival 2007 in Cambridge, she emphasised the claustrophobic nature of a small space, providing a unique experience for her viewers. Of her installations, CJ says “the exterior world surrounding the site can also provide a context both for the creation of the work and for the viewing of it.” Working with a different model each day, these creative drawing sessions will explore the human form and take inspiration from the Gallery space and the artworks within.
