Geoffrey Clarke is one of the country`s finest sculptors and we are proud to present an exceptional exhibition of this local artist`s recent work. Many people will be familiar with his work in cast aluminium. In this exhibition Clarkes lifelong fascination with the balance between the natural world and human intervention takes form in subtle natural and painted wood, often combined with other found materials.
Clarke is particularly known for the impressive work he made for Coventry Cathedral between 1952 and 1956. He has work in many private and public collections and has exhibited widely, including at the Tate Gallery, the Royal Academy and the Whitechapel Art Gallery.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a publication with a specially commissioned essay by the eminent art critic, curator and broadcaster Richard Cork.
