Artists using flowers, paper, photography, drawing and painting will turn
the Gallery into a series of inviting, beautiful and meditative landscapes
and environments that will encourage us to think about our own private
and public habitats.
Miki Miyara creates an array of exotic origami flowers, small plants and
fauna. Dan Howard-Birt uses real plants and flowers in his text based
installations whilst Michael Lin paints large, oriental inspired flowers
directly onto the floor.
In Richard Billingham's new piece the viewer is dwarfed by high trees
as they sway hauntingly in the wind. In contrast, Michael Landy's series
of simple, yet finely detailed drawings invite us to appreciate the beauty
hidden in uncultivated nature.Fabiane Perrella and Rachel Wingfield invite
visitors to undergo a brief test to identify colours which reflect their
mood. The visitor can then paint these onto a landscape on the wall, according
to numbered areas. Catherine Bertola cuts embossed wallpaper to imitate
the structure of living plants and John Workman meticulously covers architectural
features with old chintz wall paper.
