Today’s society has a fascination with fairytales, myths, witchcraft and folklore.  In this enchanting exhibition, contemporary artists explore the magic, innocence and danger lurking in fairytales, the myth of the outsider and imagined worlds; worlds in which wishes and talismans can instantly deliver all that one desires or protect one from harm.

These Valued Landscapes

During the Georgian period, the genre of landscape painting was considered the lowest valued subject in visual art practice, both in economic and critical terms, and it lagged far behind the status of portraiture and still life; these were seen to possess greater social value, expressing wealth and attracting critical acclaim. Thomas Gainsborough’s landscapes, for example, were thought of as decorative and having little or no substance to the artistic process involved in creating them.

A selling exhibition of high quality contemporary craft.  This show presents beautiful works, with an emphasis on makers from the East of England.  It fosters appreciation of the work and encourages new and existing collectors to buy, giving the makers vital support.  The wide range of work includes jewellery, ceramics, glass, silver, textile and furniture for sale.
